Assessment and decisions

All applications are reviewed to make sure that they are eligible. We then check to make sure that all the information required for assessment is available; this could be a business plan, job descriptions, etc.

Trained grant workers then commence a detailed assessment process which includes reading all the relevant information and interviewing the applicant. The assessment criteria include:

  • the need for the project,
  • the impact it will have on one or more coalfield communities,
  • the applicant organisation's skills, experience and ability to manage the project
  • value for money
  • sustainability

All decisions on grant awards are made by our full Board of Trustees, but for BtG applications authority is delegated to our grants panels.

All applicants are kept informed of the progress of their application, usually in writing.  We will write again after the Board has made its decision.
