Applying For Funds

Applying for funds

England

Following the Department for Communities and Local Government’s recent announcement of £30m for the English coalfields the Trust is now making plans for the delivery of our future programme of activity. We aim to have the detail on the shape of our programmes available shortly. In the interim, if you are interested in support from the Trust then contact the appropriate regional office and your local team will register your details.

Wales

The Welsh Assembly Government has announced that they will provide funding to the Coalfields Regeneration Trust in Wales to the sum of £930,000.  Although this is a decrease in funding we are committed to working with coalfield communities in Wales to maximise investment and leverage funding from other sources.  We will continue to support the development of social enterprise and community organisations across former coalfield communities in Wales.  Our Coalfields Social Enterprise Programme remains open for applications, and we will continue to maintain the Bridging the Gap Small Grants and Main Grants programmes. Please contact the Wales office on 01443 404 455.

Scotland

Funding is available through our Scottish Investment programme. Please contact our Scottish office on 01259 272 127 and they will be happy to provide guidance on how to apply for this funding.

Our Grants Programmes

One of the major strengths of the Coalfields Regeneration Trust is the flexibility of our funding programmes.  They’re there to help people, not make them jump through hoops.  At the one end of the spectrum we give grants from our ‘community chest’ to small organisations to help them develop, and at the other end we give large grants of up to £300,000 to bigger voluntary, community and statutory organisations.

Our grants programme is about helping groups who respond to local need.  But we’re also proactive in developing ideas and projects that address key issues such as worklessness, isolation, skills, sector development and sustainability.

In short, the Trust is always interested in working with partners to deliver projects and programmes that will contribute to the regeneration of coalfields communities.

We try to keep our application form as simple as possible.  However, as we are using public money we will need quite a bit of information from you, for we must manage our funds in a proper way.

It is important that we can judge how effective our funding decisions are in contributing to the regeneration of the coalfields.  It is also important that the activities we support fit in well with our own priorities and those of other regeneration programmes.
