Wales

Welsh GovernmentThe Coalfields Regeneration Trust has been actively working in Wales since 1999, making more than £14 million of investment in community regeneration and supporting hundreds of organisations to deliver grass roots solutions to the issues that affect these areas that remain the most deprived wards of Wales.

We are funded in Wales by the Welsh Government and are the only organisation dedicated solely to the social and economic regeneration of coalfield communities. Our work in Wales is delivered by a dedicated staff team with delegated authority and Welsh priorities.

CRT in Wales has always strived to be more than a funder to groups working in the former coalfields of Wales - we do this by supporting organisations to gain all the confidence and resources they need to make things happen for their community.

We have developed considerable expertise in meeting local needs; mixing financial investment and hands on capacity building support to achieve a catalytic effect locally Our development officers work with and within the community to tackle the issues that most affect the prosperity, resilience and opportunities available to people living within these communities.

We have established a unique bond and a strong relationship of trust with local groups and organisations and always look to work with partners and to collaborate effectively with others to make a difference at grass roots level – often operating as an honest broker between the community and other larger organisations or agencies.  To ensure results we have established strong relationships with government, local authorities, Community First Partnerships and a range of third sector intermediary organisations, networks and support services
