Facts and Figures
Once the heartland of coalmining in the UK, the East Midlands are home to a coalfield population of 789,209 in Nottinghamshire, Derbyshire and Leicestershire. Coalfield communities in these three areas are based in a range of towns, pit villages and hamlets stretching from the East Midlands border of South Yorkshire down to Rushcliffe in the very south of Nottinghamshire. The East Midlands office of the Trust covers the largest geographical area in the UK, covering 157 electoral wards, encompassing 16 local authority districts and boroughs and 3 sub-regions.
Since the Trust was launched in 1999 we have made grants totalling nearly £45 million to over 1,250 East Midlands groups.
The grants awarded have covered the full breadth of regeneration themes and successful groups and organisations obtaining funds have been as diverse as the communities we serve.
