The CRT in Scotland has seen an increase in the demand for grants covering the period 2008-2011. This demand is significantly greater than the money available for grants from the Trust and as such competition for funds is very high.

BRIDGING THE GAP AND COMMUNITY GRANTS

In order to maximise our resources and the impact of our grants for year three (2010-2011) of the current funding programme, we will continue to accept applications for the Bridging the Gap and Community Grants Programmes.

MAIN GRANTS PROGRAMME 2010 - 2011

Additionally, we invite applications that will take place between 1st April 2010 and 31st March 2011, for our Main Grants programme, through the process outlined below.

All applications will be assessed against their ability to deliver key themes, outputs and outcomes as agreed within the CRT Strategy for Scotland.

Information on these themes, outputs and outcomes is included with the Expression of Interest Form. How your project will meet these should be clearly outlined within your application and will be used as the basis of decisions taken by the Scottish Grants Committee and Board of Trustees for the Coalfields Regeneration Trust when awarding grants.

WHO CAN APPLY FOR FUNDING

New or existing organisations in Scotland from eligible areas within the Ayrshire, Lothian, Clydesdale/Strathkelvin and Fife/Central Coalfields can apply.

WHAT CAN YOU APPLY FOR

We invite applications for grants of up to £50,000 for projects taking place between 1st April 2010 and 31st March 2011, addressing regeneration activities where there will be a positive impact in the locality. Projects meeting the Scottish Government Objectives and demonstrating the following outputs will be prioritised:

  • Number of people assisted into work
  • Number of adults gaining SVQ2 and above
  • Number of transport schemes

HOW TO APPLY FOR FUNDING

Stage 1

Organisations are asked to submit an Expression of Interest Form, to our offices in Alloa, by 30th August 2009.  This is a comprehensive form covering all the areas that will help us to assess your project. You do not need to send us any supporting information at this stage.

Stage 2

Based on the information presented in the Expression of Interest, Trustees will invite suitable applications - without any final commitment to support the project - to submit a detailed application by end December 2009.  If you are invited to progress to stage 2 you will need to send us supporting information including confirmation of match funding if required.

It is then our intention to formally assess Stage 2 applications and submit these to the Board of Trustees to make the final decision in time to allow successful projects to commence in April 2010.

We will only invite full applications to the value of the remaining funds available.

A reserve list of potential applications will be held should any application fail for any reason.

Report of the Coalfields Regeneration Trust debate at the Scottish Parliament

“I turn to the issue of funding for the CRT, which so many members have raised. I am confident that as a respected player in the regeneration field and among communities, the CRT will continue to play a valuable role in helping to regenerate some of Scotland's most deprived communities. In order to assist the trust to continue its work in Scotland, I am happy to confirm that the Scottish Government will continue to support it and will invest £4.726 million in it over the next three years.”

Stewart Maxwell

Minister for Communities and Sport, 29th November 2007
