How to Apply for Funding

The Trust’s Grants Programmes

To deliver its activities the Trust will operate two grant programmes:

  • Main Grants ranging between £10,001 and £100,000
  • A Community Chest ‘Bridging the Gap’ ranging between £500 and £10,000
  • It will also operate a Good Practice Budget.

Main Grants

It is anticipated that 80% of grant spend will be on the Main Grants programme and will be available only to projects based in, or providing services to, or where beneficiaries are from, the data zones in the 20% category.  This progamme will adhere very closely to the ROAs and the regeneration objectives of the CPPs, and will be managed and delivered by Regeneration Managers, based in Alloa and in Cumnock.  Organisations wishing to apply to this programme must first discuss their ideas with a Regeneration Manager who will assist them to determine strategic fit, alignment to the Trust’s investment priorities as well as targeting and outcomes for the project.

Bridging the Gap

The Trust recognizes the important contribution made by small community groups to the social and economic regeneration of their areas and is aware of the value they place on the availability of funding which suits their requirements to deliver small-scale projects, which meet local needs.  The Bridging the Gap programme will be more flexible, in that ‘softer’ regeneration outputs eg on learning and experience, which have a valuable contribution to their local area, will be acceptable.  Organisations wishing to apply to this programme should contact the Alloa office.

Good Practice and Community Engagement

The Trust is one of the few regeneration organizations in Scotland that can directly draw on experience from the rest of the UK, particularly coalfields communities in England and Wales.  With approval from the Programme Director, Regeneration Managers will allocate limited funds from a Good Practice Budget that will enable, for example, ‘Go See’ study visits, capacity building workshops and community planning engagement mechanisms.

Eligibility

We welcome applications from new or existing groups, organisations and agencies throughout Britain who are contributing to the regeneration of coalfield areas and their communities.

Because we are a charity, your project must follow the Charity Commissions guidelines to receive charitable funds.

Your project should be based in an eligible coalfield community or be able to show clear and immediate benefits for an eligible coalfield community.  Please look at our Eligible Wards list; if your council ward is listed then your organisation is able to apply to the Trust for funding

Your local regeneration manager will be able to offer information and advice on both these issues.
