


Coalfield Community Grants Level 1 Case Studies
South Tyneside Academy of Musical Performance - Grant £4,945
Their objective is to develop a performing arts school which will be accessible and affordable to the community of South Shields. The group received funding for lighting equipment for their performances. The group uses the nearby Brinkburn Community Centre which is more suitable to the community and participants. It has a functional stage but required lighting equipment to make full use of the facility and to continue the work of STAMP.
Craghead Colliery Band - Grant £4,974
The applicant organisation has the aim of educating the community by the provision of tuition and training facilities relating to brass band music. The organisation is based in Craghead, Stanley and provide public concerts throughout the year as well as taking part in the annual miners gala. They have a growing interest in membership from young people in the community and wish to expand their junior section. The grant is for brass instruments for the junior section including tenor horns, baritone horns, euphoniums, trombones, flugel horns and cornets.
Southwick & Monkwearmouth Community Transport - Grant £5,000
The aim of the organisation is to provide accessible, low cost transport in an area of high deprivation. The transport facility offers equality of opportunity and full integration into the community. CRT funded £5,000 towards the cost of rent, insurance and vehicle expenses for the organisation.
