Bridging the Gap Case Studies
Swinton & Pendlebury Anglers
An award of £9 980 from the Coalfields Regeneration Trust has enabled Swinton & Pendlebury Anglers to increase provision for recreational angling and increase access to the site for a wider range of users. A cabin/classroom space, storage areas and toilets have been installed, geared towards children accessing this site to be able to sample the joys of outside activity through fishing.
“This year alone we have coached 745 children in various programs and in particular the A.C.E.S (Angling, Conservation, Environment Skills) award program, developed by us for the children. Some 70 children have this year attained the Entry Level which is 12 hours coaching in 2 hour sessions for 6 weeks.
The CRT funding grant helped us to put in place facilities to enable children in the Salford area to have full access to fishing in a safe and secure environment. Without it no progress could have been made .…. the awarding of the CRT grant inspired the coaching team to keep the project running and to make it better and sustained. We continue to look towards the future and are determined to keep the project moving forward and hope that our success can help others achieve their dreams; the CRT grant certainly has in our case
This project has now been granted Gold status by Dream Store for their development of facilities for disabled anglers”.
