Facts and Figures

The West Midlands, located in the heart of England, is one of the country’s most diverse regions. It encompasses the largely rural shire counties of Hertfordshire, Worcestershire, Shropshire, Staffordshire and Warwickshire; the seven Metropolitan Borough Councils of Birmingham, Coventry, Dudley, Sandwell, Solihull, Walsall and Wolverhampton; and the urban/industrial Unitary Authorities of Telford, Wrekin and Stoke-on-Trent.

The West Midlands is home to a coalfields population of approximately 500,000 people. They are concentrated in 98 wards in Northern Warwickshire and Staffordshire.

Since the Trust was launched in 1999 we have made grants totalling more than £10 million to over 170 West Midlands groups.

The grants awarded have covered the full breadth of regeneration themes and successful groups and organisations obtaining funding have been as diverse as the communities we serve.
