Motormouth
The Barnsley Motor Skills Project ‘Motormouth’ based at the Motor Skills Workshop in Athersley, offers diversionary activity to young people at risk of offending through education and training, mechanic skills and practical driving skills. A development worker and 2 part-time youth workers were employed to work with the young people to assist them with their personal and social development and specialist tutors were employed on a sessional basis to provide technical training. The project was previously run by volunteers on a part time basis, however, the Trust’s support has enabled the organisation to employ staff and develop towards a potentially sustainable community enterprise.
