CRT Renewable Energy Ltd
Community Renewable Energy Investment Programme
CRT Renewable Energy Limited is a wholly owned subsidiary of the Trust. We are currently delivering a Community Renewable Energy Investment Programme which installs Solar PV panels on community buildings that have previously received capital grant funding from the Trust. This benefits the community building through reductions in its energy costs and it provides a return for the Trust to reinvest in activities that meet our social objectives.
If you run a building that has received capital investment from the Trust and are interested in exploring the potential of a Solar PV installation to reduce your energy costs, contact Stephen Abson on 01709 765574.
Resources for Community Energy
Community groups interested in creating their own renewable energy projects and low carbon local planning to find new energy solutions in coalfields areas can access many free resources online.
The Centre for Sustainable Energy (CSE) is a national charity that has developed open access, extensive high-quality resources to support community energy and low carbon planning through its PlanLoCaL programme.
· Guidance on low carbon planning – www.planlocal.org.uk
· Short films, exercises and guidance to establish community-owned renewable energy – www.planlocal.org.uk/videos and www.planlocal.org.uk/downloads
· Other community tools (e.g. guidance for completing a community building energy audit) – www.cse.org.uk/tools-for-community-groups
The Department of Energy and Climate Change (DECC) has developed the Community Energy Online portal to help groups access a range of resources and information about community-owned energy projects:
