Employment Partnership Programme West Cumbria

The launch of the Employment Partnership Programme West Cumbria on 23rd July 2008 heralded an ambitious plan to create 16,000 new local jobs in West Cumbria by 2027 by building on the areas nuclear pedigree.

The Employment Partnership Programme West Cumbria ‘s key objectives are to:

  • Reduce worklessness in identified wards where the key issue within the community is the lack of employment and skills.
  • Engage more people in work, training and education
  • Enable more disadvantaged individuals to access employment through the Nuclear Supply Chain

CRT will work with partners to:

  • Increase the supply of appropriately skilled labour to meet employer demand
  • Tackle the problem of worklessness at its grass roots level by engaging with individuals to secure and sustain employment by increasing people’s skills, capacity and job prospects of employment

Our Employment Partnership Manager will -

  • Work with employers in the supply chain to determine their recruitment needs and develop job matching and skills development services to ensure sustainability and job retention
  • Identify and maximise the unique opportunities presented in West Cumbria within the dominant nuclear sector and its supply chain
  • Identify appropriate delivery partners to ensure a seamless service is developed and to minimise duplication of provision
  • Improve employment retention through direct ‘brokerage’ service and support to employers
