Sarah’s Soccer School

To ensure that more girls have the opportunity to play football, Game On has arranged for two girls only football session as after-school clubs in the Wakefield area. The sessions are available to school years 7 – 11 and are designed to help the girls improve the technical aspect of the game, gain confidence and above all have a really great football experience.

Sarah Wood the West Riding County FA community coach is delivering an after-school club to girls at Crofton High School. So far 16 girls have been engaged in the programme “The Crofton Girls Football programme has started very well, with 14 girls attending the first session. All of the girls were enthusiastic and showed a great willingness to learn. We hope that the girls continue to attend the sessions and ultimately join a girls only club.” Sarah Wood, Community Coach for the WRCFA.

Sarah Tague the Yorkshire Coordinator for Game on is also delivering an after school club at Eastmoor City High So far 20+ girls have attended one or more sessions.   

In terms of Exit Routes for the girls, there is a free of charge Midnight League in Denhale ARC that the girls can attend.  An U14 team manager from Wrenthorpe Rangers FC is will be attending a session to invite interested girls to their team.

Doncaster Rovers Ability Counts

Doncaster Rovers Football in the Community Team (FiTC) are looking to promote footballing opportunity for all by introducing an ability counts section for all young people under 16 with pan-disabilities.  The idea behind these sessions is to ensure that young people with disabilities have the opportunity to play football at a local level within their community. Eric Randall head of Doncaster Rovers FiTC believes that; ‘’It is an opportunity for the football club to move forward and get even more people involved with their local football club.’’

Football sessions for 5 – 16 year olds (broken down into age groups) with pan disabilities and their families. Indoor facilities to host Boccia, quizzes and all round socialising. There is also an on-site café for those who wish to make a day of it.

The sessions are available to all young people (boys and girls) aged  5 – 16) with pan disabilities and their families. It will based at Keepmoat on Saturday mornings 10:00 – 12:00. Participants will be split according to age and will be coached by the professional coaches of Doncaster Rovers FiTC.  Their will also be an indoor facility hosting sports and leisure activities such as, football quizzes, boccia and socialising. There will be no charge for these sessions.

The Doncaster Rovers FiTC are a charitable trust based at the Keepmoat Stadium. They are dedicated to support, encourage and promote; healthy lifestyles, social inclusion, team building, personal development and above all else fun!
