Commended ’Miner’s to Minor’s’ by Alan Gray.jpgThe Coalfields Regeneration Trust was formed in 1999 as an independent charity that operates on a UK-wide basis. Our mission is to lead the way in coalfields regeneration and to restore healthy, prosperous, and sustainable communities.

We are a significant presence in coalfield communities. In the last year alone we managed funds in excess of £32m across the UK, and employed 89 core staff with specialisms in project design, capacity building, grant administration, and monitoring.

We are funded in Scotland by the Scottish Government and are the only organisation dedicated solely to the social and economic regeneration of coalfield communities. Our work in Scotland is delivered by a dedicated staff team with delegated authority and uniquely Scottish priorities.

We have been more than a funder to coalfield groups and organisations.  We have established a unique bond with coalfield communities and a strong relationship of trust with local groups and organisations.  We have developed considerable expertise in meeting local needs; mixing financial investment and hands on capacity building support to achieve a catalytic effect locally.  To deliver these results we have established strong relationships with government, local authorities, Community Planning Partnerships, and a range of third sector intermediary organisations, networks and support sevices.
