Recognising the needs of former mining towns and villages, we are aware of the lack of available commercial property within coalfield communities. We also appreciate that private companies that are focused on a return on investment are less inclined to want to develop property in the coalfields.
As a result, we invest in commercial space and also develop properties. This allows us to support SMEs through the provision of high quality, affordable space. During the development phase, we also encourage our contractors to employ local talent and to put in place apprenticeship schemes where possible. As a result of this work it brings business to areas in desperate need of new jobs as we address the challenges relating to unemployment and skills.
