As the coalfield communities are some of the most deprived in the UK, it stands to reason that these areas often suffer from a shortage of skills, often leading to high levels of unemployment or low paid jobs. At the Coalfields Regeneration Trust, we work with partners and businesses to identify opportunities and redirect resource where it matters most.

Game On Wales ‘Energising’ Activities
• For kids that ‘love football’: As Wales’ most participated, spectated and volunteered sport, football holds an important place in ex-mining communities. Helping local teams grow is a key aim of Game On Wales’ football coaching sessions, events and tournaments for players of all abilities.

REGEN School is building and developing strong and sustainable social businesses. In partnership with Bridgend CBC, we equip leaders with the skills and confidence to develop and grow new enterprises and provide peer and mentor support to individuals who are leading on community asset and service transfers.
