We are particularly pleased with a special project we have been delivering – it is linked both to the closure of the Longannet Power Station and the impact it has had on communities and being able to offer unemployed young people a suite of qualifications.
There have been 3 small groups of young people who in the course of the project have received 2 SQA qualifications and 2 industry qualifications and gained skills and experience in environmental work and landscaping.
The really pleasing aspect though is community benefit. Kincardine has suffered since the coal mine closed and now the power station, from a poor environment. This is being enhanced through the project and residents are commenting on how good the streets and formerly gap site areas are looking. This resulted in CRT winning the Beautiful Fife Project Award 2019 for Kincardine.
We had a formal inspection of CRT as an approved learning centre by the SQA. This covers our procedures, policy, practices, management and administration. We are happy to say that we have met the 2nd top band of the criteria.
