The Employment and Skills Team help those furthest from the labour market back into employment.
Our three community employment and skills coaches will continue to work in South Yorkshire, predominantly in Barnsley, Doncaster and Rotherham, which aligns to our Communities that Work interventions in these areas. Parts of these areas typically fall in the top 10% most deprived nationally.
To support our delivery, the Employment and Skills Team collaborate with other service providers in the voluntary, private and public sectors to provide a client focused approach in supporting them back into work or learning. This ensures referral pathways are tailored to a client’s needs and barriers to employment are reduced.
The team provides high level Information, Advice and Guidance (IAG) and a menu of support which includes help with:
• Application forms and CV’s
• Employer engagement and apprenticeships
• Interview preparation
• Training and licenses
• Access to laptops
• Using job search tools and websites
• Creating emails
• Writing covering letters
• In work support
• Universal Credit
We also utilise a `barrier busting’ budget to contribute towards costs such as travel, childcare, interview clothes, PPE, CSCS cards and other bespoke training and/or affiliations.
