Over the past year our Employment and Skills Service has raised £447,613 in social value for coalfield communities in South Yorkshire by giving them a helping hand with their careers.
Working across former mining areas in parts of Barnsley, Doncaster and Rotherham – the service helped 139 different people by offering them personalised, ongoing support with job applications, gaining qualifications, looking for suitable vacancies, and more.
Overall 43 people managed to find work thanks to the service, 23 of which were employed on a full-time basis. But the service is about more than just new employment; 79 people gained newfound confidence and skills, 22 people became volunteers, and four others completed vocational training.
