This impact report is published in extraordinary times. Every one of us has seen our lives changed in some way by the Covid-19 pandemic, and Game On Wales is no exception. The theme of this annual impact report is not on participation numbers or return on investment figures but instead highlights an area of our work that has arisen sharply into focus for individuals, families and communities – ‘places to play’.
This year reminded us more than ever how important the local field, the pitch, the multi-use games area, the park, the playground is to us and the role these places serve for the community. These are places that past generations have shaped for the purposes of sport and recreation. Behind each there lies a story, its own history of acquisition, its own struggle to be built and its own fight for survival. This is why we cherish and defend them furiously. With our help, we continue to make and remake these places, that mean so much.
