The Coalfields Regeneration Trust (CRT) is the only community wealth building charity dedicated to the regeneration of Britain’s coalfield communities. For over 25 years, CRT has worked with communities to create opportunities, strengthen community organisations and develop place-based solutions for former coalmining towns and villages.
About the Role
CRT is seeking a Development Manager to lead the strategic and operational delivery of CRT Support in Wales, strengthening the capacity, resilience and sustainability of voluntary, community and social enterprise organisations across former coalfield communities.
The role will lead a Welsh Government funded programme of investment and support, ensuring resources are used strategically to maximise community impact, support organisational development and enable long-term sustainability of community assets. The post-holder will also lead CRT’s work on community asset transfer and community ownership in Wales.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the design, delivery and improvement of CRT’s Support programme in Wales, aligned to CRT strategy and Welsh policy priorities.
- Manage Welsh Government funded investment and support programmes, ensuring effective allocation, compliance, monitoring and impact reporting.
- Lead, support and develop a small team, including objective setting, performance management, coaching and training.
- Oversee delivery against agreed outputs, outcomes, budgets and investment profiles, taking corrective action where needed.
- Lead CRT’s work on community asset transfer, community ownership and asset development across Wales.
- Build strong partnerships with communities, public bodies, funders, local authorities and VCSE organisations.
- Ensure robust monitoring, evaluation and reporting systems evidence impact and inform improvement.
About You
We are looking for someone with demonstrable experience of leading complex programmes involving multiple projects, partners and funding streams, alongside proven experience of managing funding programmes and meeting funder requirements.
You will bring strong line management experience, including setting objectives, managing performance and supporting staff to deliver high-quality outcomes. You will also have a strong track record of partnership working and supporting community organisations or social enterprises with governance, sustainability and organisational development.
You will understand the challenges and opportunities facing former coalfield communities in Wales, the VCSE sector, and relevant Welsh policy and funding frameworks. Experience of community asset development or community asset transfer projects will be particularly important.
