The Coalfields Regeneration Trust is excited to launch our new strategy for 2024–2029. The strategy introduces our innovative community wealth building model, designed to generate economic prosperity in coalfield communities and reinvest this wealth into addressing the needs of people living in the coalfields.
You can read the strategy in full by clicking here.
Our strategy focuses on five key missions—Community, Health, Skills, Jobs, and Climate. We will use these missions to deliver change for people and communities in the coalfields by being the organisation people want to partner with. This joint approach will be used to bring in more funding and support to the coalfields as well through increase delivery through our own CRT programmes.
The Coalfields Regeneration Trust will be working to ten ambitions which are aligned to our five key missions. By 2029 we will have:

Andy Lock, Chief Executive of the Coalfields Regeneration Trust said:
“Over the last five years, more than a quarter of a million people living in Britain’s coalfield communities have benefitted from activity delivered directly by the Coalfields Regeneration Trust and organisations supported with our funds. “In this new strategy document, we outline our targets for the next five years. We want to continue to support those living in coalfield communities to reach their full potential and this will only happen by working in partnership, being creative with the resources available to maximise impact and listening to the needs of people in the coalfields to shape our work to their needs.
“By listening to the voices of coalfield communities and adapting to their evolving needs, we will continue to build a brighter future where everyone has the opportunity to thrive. Together, we can transform challenges into opportunities, creating lasting prosperity for all.”
