CRT Engage is our health, skills and jobs programme. Our teams work with you to help you achieve your goals. You can sign up to CRT Engage through our website or other local organisations.
One to one support
Our CRT Engage coaches in England will offer support to achieve your goals – whether it’s building your confidence, helping you with healthy eating advice or managing chronic pain your coach is there to listen and offer advice to help tackle your issues. This project is part-funded by the UK government through the UK Shared Prosperity Fund being delivered in partnership through the West Yorkshire Combined Authority and Wakefield Council.

Group activities
Loneliness can affect us all and our CRT Engage team in England can help by supporting you to volunteer or join new groups so you can make new friends. We also run our own groups covering everything from community cafes to yoga so we’re likely to have a group to suit you!
Courses
Our teams in England and Scotland can help you find free training to improve your skills, whether it’s an online or in person course or our own training from our Scotland team on things like first aid or food hygiene we’re here to help!
Job training
Our CRT Worx activity in Scotland offers paid job training – you’ll get paid to carry out work improving your community while learning new skills to support you into a job.
Family hub
Our family hub in Drongan, Scotland is there to help support parents with affordable childcare activities to enable parents to go back to work to provide for their families.

Almost one in five people in coalfield communities are economically inactive. We work with those furthest from the labour market to give them the foundation level skills they need to create a brighter future.
There are fewer local jobs based in coalfield communities. Our CRT Property subsidiary builds industrial units for SMEs to create the jobs needed in coalfield communities and generates most of the funding for our work.
The work of the Coalfields Regeneration Trust in Scotland is paid for with a grant from the Scottish Government.
Together Active part funds one Community Connector in the CRT Engage team in Stoke-on-Trent.
Meir Primary Care Network funds two Health & Wellbeing coaches and one nutritionist in the CRT Engage team in Stoke-on-Trent.
The UK Shared Prosperity Fund has been awarded by West Yorkshire Combined Authority and Wakefield Council to pay for a Nutritionist to operate in the Five Towns area of Wakefield.
Drongan Grassroots is supporting the CRT Engage programme through the provision of childcare, a breakfast club and community garden.
The Zone is supporting the CRT Engage programme through the provision of childcare.
Ochiltree Community Centre is supporting the CRT Engage programme by supporting our CRT Worx jobs programme.
The Larder supports our CRT Engage programme through their local family hub.
Netherthird Initiative for Community Empowerment supports our CRT Engage programme through their local family hub.

Affordable Afterschool care for children P1-P7, helping families with the cost of childcare. Partnering with the local primary school this educational program aims to educate children on the benefits of healthy eating from seed to plate.

We are pleased to announce that applications for the Airedale Healthy and Sustainable Communities Grants are now open.
Joint bids (partnerships): up to £4,000
Single organisation bids: up to £2,500
Projects should aim to:
Tackle health inequalities in Airedale and Ferry Fryston.
Engage and support the most vulnerable or marginalised residents.
Address one or more of the five Core20Plus5 health priorities by tackling wider social factors that influence wellbeing.
We welcome applications from organisations and partnerships working in Airedale and Ferry Fryston.
Your project must show how it contributes to the Core20Plus5 health priorities, which currently focus on:
Maternity – Supporting continuity of care, particularly for women from BAME and low-income backgrounds.
Severe Mental Illness (SMI) – Improving mental health support and encouraging uptake of annual health checks.
Chronic Respiratory Disease – Supporting vaccinations and care for people with COPD and similar conditions.
Early Cancer Diagnosis – Promoting early detection at stages 1 or 2.
Hypertension – Helping people manage blood pressure to reduce risk of heart disease and stroke.
